New Job, new layout

I’m back! Am I back? We’ll see.

I haven’t updated my website in 7 years. Apart from being lazy, this is because I haven’t been working in a public facing role. I have been working as a software development engineer for Amazon.com in Seattle. Last October, The Jewellist and I moved back to Perth, Australia. My manager was nice enough to let me try working remotely, but that experiment failed, mostly due to the tyrany of timezones and the way the development team was structured.

Rather than move away from the company that has been so good to me for so long, I have now moved into a Solutions Architect role for Amazon Web Services. There I will be helping companies in Western Australia and South Australia create solutions on the cloud.

This means I am moving back into a role that has a public facing aspect. As such, I thought I had better spruce up the place a bit, so that I can host content (my own content, not affiliated directly with AWS) here and share with people. I’m going to port across all my old content, I hope :) This time I’m going to use a layout designed by somebody who knows what they are doing, rather than trying to do it myself.
